SEPARATED BY RELIGION, UNITED BY FAITH
Jewish Attorney Helps Free Muslim INS Detainee

Miami, Florida – Wednesday, April 9, 2008
– David Maurice Aelion, Esq., a Miami Jewish attorney with an impressive legal and valuable Judaic family lineage succeeded yesterday in setting free a Miami Beach Muslim man who had been detained at the Broward Transition Center in Pompano Beach for nearly five months, exercising his belief that humanity and brotherhood rules over religious differences.

“The most important thing to remember is that we are humans first, brothers second, and religion comes third. Religion should not determine whom we are inside or how we feel toward our fellow brothers,” said Aelion of his having helped free a Muslim detainee.

Born in Ethiopia in 1978 to Jewish Sudanese parents, Mr. Aelion’s father, Maurice Aelion served as personal counsel to Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie.  His great uncle and personal mentor Dr. Edmond Malka earned six law degrees and was Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey; and his great-grand father was renowned Rabbi Solomon Malka – visionary, spiritual leader of the Jewish community in Khartoum throughout the early and mid 1900’s.
